Choreography Grant

Diane Lachtrupp is Awarded Artist Grant by
Saratoga Program for the Arts Funding (SPAF) to
Choreograph New Work

Diane Lachtrrupp, choreographer and co-founder/director of Tango Fusion Dance Company, was awarded a $2,500 SPAF Artist Grant (SPAF), part of the Decentralization regrant program of NYSCA, for choreography. Five new period ballroom dances will be created and performed, reflecting the dances (polka, waltz, tango, quadrille, etc.) and the residents and visitors in Saratoga Springs during the late 19th to early 20th century. During the presentation, audience members will be invited to learn a dance and assist in creating a new piece of choreography.

Ms. Lachtrupp states, “I am grateful that the Saratoga County Arts Council and NYSCA awarded this grant to me. It will provide me with the opportunity and luxury to experiment, develop and create without pulling together a full-scale production. At a later date, the work created will be a catalyst for a full-length performance piece. For a long time I have envisioned a full-length theatrical dance show set in a place like Saratoga Springs.”

Ms. Lachtrupp has been a choreographer for over 20 years and her work has been performed in the United States, Argentina and Europe. For further information, contact Diane Lachtrupp at (718) 360-6447.

This program is made possible in part with funds from the Saratoga Program for Arts Funding (SPAF) part of the Decentralization regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), administered by the Saratoga County Arts Council.
